“Gloryhound’s
sound is packed with testosterone, loud guitars, and hard-rock crunch, and
AC/DC-Zeppelin-inflected tunes that unleash some serious speaker-shredding
mojo.” - Exclaim! Black-leather-cool and plenty of swagger, these guys show how
it’s done. The band has rocked its hit single "Electric Dusk" to the top of the
Billboard Canada charts and warmed up the East Coast this winter touring with
the legendary Deep Purple.
Coyote is from
Charlottetown, and is made up of five friends that play uplifting rock together.
They've played extensively over the past year, sharing the stage with acts such
as Rich Aucoin, Library Voices, Paper Lions, and The Junction. They have
finished recording their debut EP entitled Tracks, to be released in early
March.
Armed with
resolution and an acoustic guitar, Phil Flowers makes music that reflects the
anxieties of existence and the integrity of true art. His debut album, People
People, earned him three Music New-Brunswick Awards, including best Anglophone
recording, best Rock recording and Male Solo recording of the year. Under the
heavy influence of North-American folk music, blues, and jazz, Flowers creates a
perfect atmosphere for his fiercely imagist lyrics about social heartache and
deception.
Chris Kirby rocks his unique style of East Coast R&B, drawing
from the sounds of New Orleans, Motown, and from the rich tradition of
Newfoundland storytelling. Uniquely described as a cross between Stevie Wonder’s
soul and Jamiroquai’s funk, Kirby delivers a fun,
high-energy live performance,
and his funky grooves spread throughout crowds like wildfire.

Music PEI - SpinCount Touring Artist of the Year Awarded to Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold!
SpinCount congratulates Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold, winner of the 2012
SpinCount Touring Artist of the Year Award. This award recognizes achievement
in regional, national and international touring by a Prince Edward Island artist
or group. The award was presented at the Music PEI Week Gala Awards Show at the
Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, PEI.
“We are very honoured to win the Music PEI / Spincount Touring Artist of the Year award,” said Tim Chaisson, “and look forward to working with Kevin and Kimberly again in 2012!”
“We’re very grateful for our part in presenting this award to PEI touring artists,” said SpinCount founder Kimberly Sinclair. “A tour takes an enormous amount of dedication, hard work and money. Every year, PEI musicians take their gear and songs on the road – and the island finds an audience far beyond its shores. SpinCount is honoured to sponsor an award that recognizes the challenges and triumphs of touring bands and artists, and the contribution touring makes to Canadian culture by taking the music to the grass roots.”
Based in Nova Scotia, SpinCount is an ECMA award-winning music promotion company, providing publicity, radio tours, and radio tracking in order to raise artist’s profile, sales, and attendance at shows. The winner of the Touring Artist of the Year receives a National radio tour & campaign exclusively from SpinCount.
Tim Chaisson is a performer/songwriter who is currently working on the follow up album to the successful “Broken Hearted Beat”. 2011 was a year of strong touring with shows from Newfoundland to British Columbia and a successful solo tour of Australia. He is pleased to accept the inaugural Touring Artist of the Year and looks forward to the next national tour in support of the first single from the new album due out in early summer.
Congratulations to all nominees and thanks again to Music PEI for another incredible Music PEI Week!

"You're Mine" - First Song from Scrappy Happiness by The Joel Plaskett Emergency!
The Joel Plaskett Emergency - Rock n Roll in Record Time!
For those who wondered how Plaskett could follow-up the success of his triple record, Three -- Scrappy Happiness is the answer. While Three was ambitious, Scrappy Happiness is both ambitious and innovative.
Plaskett and The Emergency will record and digitally release a song a week for 10 weeks – all the while, documenting the process with vlogs, blogs and tweets. Two weeks after they’re finished, The Joel Plaskett Emergency will head out to begin a Canadian tour.
Back in the day, radio was a huge part of this quick turnaround . . . so listen every Thursday for a NEW song. It's Rock and Roll in Record Time!
"Here it is, hot off the tape machine at my recording studio... over to you"

About Scrappy Happiness...
From his start in high school band, Thrush Hermit, through his solo work and records with The Emergency, to his current project, Scrappy Happiness, Joel Plaskett has always found a way to expand his musical horizons and to challenge himself and his audiences.
For those who wondered how Plaskett could follow-up the success of his triple record, Three -- Scrappy Happiness is the answer. While Three was ambitious, Scrappy Happiness is both ambitious and innovative. The project harkens back to a time when music went from studio to radio to audience in an immediate way - without months of calculation and set up. Plaskett and The Emergency will record and digitally release a song a week for 10 weeks – all the while, documenting the process with vlogs, blogs and tweets. Two weeks after they’re finished, The Joel Plaskett Emergency will head out to begin a Canadian tour.
But recording and touring his own music is only one of Plaskett’s passions. In 2008, he launched a new label, New Scotland Records, and has already released albums by Steve Poltz, Al Tuck, Peter Elkas and Emergency drummer Dave Marsh. Plaskett has also just finished producing a New Scotland Records 7" vinyl single series, which includes artists, such as Jeremy Fisher, Shotgun Jimmie and Ana Egge. In 2010, Plaskett compiled and released the Thrush Hermit Box Set (Complete Recordings) to coincide with a sold-out Hermit reunion tour. He is also an award-winning producer with recent credits that include David Myles Turn Time Off and Sarah Slean’s Land from her new double-disc release Land & Sea.
Whether, scrappy or polished, The Seahorse Tavern or Massey Hall, happiness for Joel Plaskett is a life making music.

The Dec 2nd edition of “Artist’s Spotlight - Nielson Music Canadian Update” says this is the band to watch: “… brought up on a heavy diet of classic rock and bands like the Ramones and Stooges. After gaining a strong local following since 2006, they played a number of showcases which led to their signing with the Agency Group. They have opened for bands like Down With Webster and Thornley.”(http://tinyurl.com/7gqugqn)
The song also made the BDSRadio.com “Canada Rock New and Active” listing (http://www.milkmanunlimited.com/bds.htm#rock) as spins at radio push the song onto the charts.
Bands are often described as “Hard-working” — Gloryhound works hard and delivers. The song is heating up on radio and is bringing them some well-deserved attention.
“Electric Dusk” is from the band’s EP by the same name. SpinCount is proud to represent Gloryhound to radio and to have supported the band early in its career, and congratulates Gloryhound and the entire team for a job well done.
