Gloryhound "Electric Dusk" jumps onto Charts Nationally!

(December 7, 2011) Halifax rockers Gloryhound have reason to celebrate as their current single “Electric Dusk,” is getting attention from radio across Canada.

Track is # 20 this morning on the MediaBase Active Rock Canada, and was added this week to:

CIKR, K-Rock 105.7 in Kingston, ON
CHKY, LiVE 105 in Halifax and
Galaxie Satellite  Radio (Rock Alternative)
with a feature spin on CKGE, The Rock in Toronto

Early support for “Electric Dusk” has come from stations across Canada, including:

·         CFRQ The Q Halifax;
·         CKLZ Power 104 Kelowna; and
·         CFXY 105 FM The Fox Fredericton
·         with features from:
·         The Verge;
·         CKHY Live 105 Halifax;
·         CFJB Rock 95 Barrie;
·         and CFXY Fredericton
.

The Dec 2nd edition of “Artist’s Spotlight - Nielson Music Canadian Update” says this is the band to watch:    “… brought up on a heavy diet of classic rock and bands like the Ramones and Stooges. After gaining a strong local following since 2006, they played a number of showcases which led to their signing with the Agency Group. They have opened for bands like Down With Webster and Thornley.”(http://tinyurl.com/7gqugqn)

The song also made the BDSRadio.com “Canada Rock New and Active” listing (http://www.milkmanunlimited.com/bds.htm#rock) as spins at radio push the song onto the charts.

Bands are often described as “Hard-working” —  Gloryhound works hard and delivers. The song is heating up on radio and is bringing them some well-deserved attention.

“Electric Dusk” is from the band’s EP by the same name.  SpinCount is proud to represent Gloryhound to radio and to have supported the band early in its career, and congratulates Gloryhound and the entire team for a job well done.

Continued thanks to radio and to fans for their support!

In August 2010, the Gordie Sampson Songcamp was launched in Ingonish Cape Breton. Songcamp was conceived as a way for Gordie to share some of the experiences and insights he’s gleaned from his years as a successful songwriter with promising young Nova Scotia writers. For four very intense days, Gordie and Steve MacDougall lead co-writing sessions that result in dozens of great songs. Songcamp closes with a community concert where songs written during camp are performed for the public. In August 2011 Songcamp celebrated its first birthday with 6 returning writers from 2010 and 6 new writers. The group wrote over 30 songs together.

The Gordie Sampson Songcamp Circle at NS Music Week will be hosted by Steve MacDougall and will feature performances by 2010 and 2011 Songcampers including Carleton Stone, Molly Thomason, Mo Kenney, Breagh MacKinnon, Natalie Lynn and Dylan Guthro.

The Gordie Sampson Songcamp is supported by the Dept of Communities, Culture and Heritage-Province of Nova Scotia, Music Nova Scotia and SOCAN.

Grammy winner Gordie Sampson releases "Hurricane Jane" to Canadian Radio!

Gordie Sampson's song writing credits are a who's who of the Nashville music scene, including hits for George Canyon, Carrie Underwood ("Jesus Take the Wheel" for which he earned a Grammy), Keith Urban, Martina McBride and others literally too numerous to catalogue. Stepping again in front of the mic, Gordie has released "Hurricane Jane" from his new Country CD "Almost Beautiful."

An internationally known Canadian songwriter singing his own words in his own voice, it doesn't get better than this. "Hurricane Jane" is available now on DMDS or listen via soundcloud.

Joel Plaskett's "Jimmie's Still Jimmie" 7" Vinyl Single Rolls Across Canada!

Joel Plaskett's "Jimmie's Still Jimmie" tsunami is sweeping across Canada, currently topping national rock charts in Canada! (Week of June 13, song is #29 on Active Rock & climbing.) Thanks to Q104, LiVE 105 (Halifax); The Fox (Fredericton); Iceberg 151; SiriusSatellite Radio; The Peak (Vancouver) plus many more, for supporting the track, and you can. listen and download on itunes: here

Check out Plaskett's latest CD, EMERGENCYs, false alarms, shipwrecks, castaways, fragile creatures, special features, demons and demonstrations (or simply, EMERGENCYs), on MapleMusic, which is "a collection of rarities, covers, demos, B-sides, and unreleased songs dating back to 1999 and his final days with Thrush Hermit, plus new material recorded after THREE." (Reviewed here, on herohill)

... when you look at the career of Halifax song writer and National treasure, Joel Plaskett, the numbers are a bit mind blowing. (Hero Hill Blog www.herohill.com/2011/06/deeper-into-music-joel-plaskett.htm);

Joel Plaskett achieved the very rare distinction of reaching one million plays on CBC Radio 3... his previous album THREE (2009) gave him his first Juno Award... after several nominations. These laurels – and his many ECMAs confirm the Halifax singer/songwriter as a major Canadian artist...(Mark Rheaume, CBC Radio 3, Music Matters Vol. # 11-20)

Listen on soundcloud below:

Joel Plaskett - "Jimmie's Still Jimmie" by SpinCount

Joel Plaskett's Jimmie's Still Jimmie" is part of the 7" Vinyl Single Series on New Scotland Records.

Gretzky and Kurri, Bird and Mchale, me and a bag of Babybel...there have been some amazing duos over the years. The world has just been introduced to another with pairing of Joel Plaskett and Shotgun Jimmie for the Jimmie's Still Jimmie / That's Not Joel 7".

The scenerio plays out like this: JP and SJ team up to lay down some yin and yang rockers at the Scotland Yard. Joel rolls out the woes of traveling while unraveling on, "Jimmie's Still Jimmie." Shotgun consoles him with his mighty thoughtful flip side, "That's Not Joel." Post-Modern Lovers doing Clash City covers where good humour hovers. Maritime brothers.

The Jimmie's Still Jimmie / That's Not Joel split 7" is available now on New Scotland Records.
